  • Overview

    Noble Research Institute LLC (NRI) seeks to hire an Associate Professor experienced in animal science research to join and work with our applied research team. The role of this position will be primarily research but their research program will support the efforts of the producer relations consulting and education efforts of NRI. The primary focus of this position consists of forage-based beef cattle production in both cow/calf and stocker systems. Key responsibilities include conducting applied research studies focused on the plant and animal interface, and beef cattle production efficiency of forage and supplementation. Expectations are to publish peer-reviewed articles, bulletins, and popular press, and to participate in outreach and education activities.

    This position will be part of a team of applied researchers that works to advance NRI’s vision of land stewardship on grazing lands for beef cattle production and producer profitability. Collaboration across the applied research team as well as other working groups at NRI, universities, and animal industries is expected.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying strategic technologies and innovations that further the advancement of Noble Research Institute; collaborate with others to develop and implement creative problem solving techniques and decision support tools. Support the Land Stewardship Program by aiding in the design and implementation of strategic cattle production components within ecosystem wide research, demonstration and systems level projects.


    PhD in animal science or related field and 5 years of experience is required in addition to excellent written and oral communication skills. Candidate needs to be a current Professional Animal Scientist (PAS) member in good standing or be able to obtain certification within first year of employment. Experience in applied multidisciplinary agricultural research and/or management of beef cattle and beef cattle systems is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong record of applied animal production research. The successful candidate should be self-motivated to work independently and also be a good team member.
