NOTE:  The normal starting salary for this position is $8.25/hourly.   A higher salary may be considered, dependent on the qualifications and experience of the selected applicant.

DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

The Oklahoma City Animal Shelter is approximately 45,000 square feet in area.  This part-time, year-round position is solely responsible for all custodial duties for the shelter.  This position will be exposed to steady and loud noises and allergy-causing agents such as dust and dander, will work on slick floors and uneven surfaces, and may be exposed to aggressive, injured, sick, infectious or diseased animals.  Local travel may also be required.

JOB SUMMARY

This position is located in Animal Welfare Division of the Development Services Department and is responsible for performing unskilled and semi-skilled building maintenance and repair tasks. Typical duties include: performing a variety of tasks related to the cleaning and building maintenance of City facilities; emptying wastebaskets, trash, and recycle containers; replenishing supplies such as toilet paper, soap products, paper towels, etc.; inspecting building/equipment for needed repairs and maintenance; performing preventive maintenance and minor repairs; and the proficient and safe operation of  manual or power equipment and tools, consistent with the assigned occupational trade and the worker's prior experience and training. The necessary license or certification to perform specific tasks must be acquired prior to assuming the duties of the position.

NOTE:  This position performs duties that may require local travel; therefore, a valid driver license (Operator) is required.

NOTE:  Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application for part-time/seasonal employment and must pass a post-offer drug test and health screen as administered by the City of Oklahoma City.
